4 Easy Ways to Calm Sunburned Skin

After the hot summer holidays, many people return from trips and water festivals like Thingyan with unexpected sunburn on their faces and other parts of the body. 1. Cool the Skin with Cold Water

To lock in moisture effectively, apply moisturizing cream or Vaseline immediately after showering while the skin is still slightly damp.

3. Don’t Peel Off Dead Skin

When sunburn occurs, the skin may begin to peel or flake. This is a natural process where the body removes damaged skin cells. Avoid pulling or peeling the skin with your hands, as this can harm the delicate new skin underneath and may lead to infection or uneven skin tone. Since peeling is a sign of healing, it is best to let the skin shed naturally. Regularly applying moisturizer can help reduce dryness and make the peeling process more comfortable. Also, try to avoid tight clothing and instead wear loose, breathable cotton fabrics to prevent friction against the skin.

4. Drink Plenty of Water

Sunburn can draw moisture from inside the body to the skin’s surface, which may lead to dehydration. Therefore, it is important to drink more water than usual, along with beverages containing electrolytes, to replenish both internal and external hydration. Proper hydration helps the body repair skin cells more quickly and can also reduce symptoms like dizziness and fatigue.
