Does your life feel too heavy lately, as if the things you carry every day are weighing you down? Are you struggling to fit into modern trends and social expectations, feeling suffocated and longing for a daily life that is simple and free? This is a thought almost everyone has. However, for various reasons, many never actually take the first step toward change.
In reality, a simple life is not out of reach. It depends entirely on your mindset. First, ask yourself honestly: Is your mind crowded with too many wants and ambitions, or is what you truly desire just a series of simple, peaceful days? If you truly long for that simplicity, let’s explore the answer together.
You Cannot Find Simplicity When Your Desires are Excessive
This is why I suggested asking yourself if your “wants” are too many. Simplicity cannot be found when desires are high, or when possessions and attachments keep growing.
Naturally, when you pursue material wealth or status, you must sacrifice your time and effort to sustain those goals. During that time, your mind and body become dependent on those pursuits, making it difficult to find true freedom. Similarly, having too many attachments is like a cart carrying a heavy load, it will always feel weighed down.

Learn the Art of Letting Go
Therefore, if you truly want to live simply, it is vital to learn how to let go. It is important to understand that “letting go” does not mean having no goals, being lazy, or avoiding responsibility. Letting go simply means leaving behind the unnecessary burdens in life.
Think of daily life as a journey: you only need the essential food, water, comfortable clothes, and a good companion. You should leave behind heavy, useless items; you don’t need to carry a month's worth of food for a one-day trip. This is the concept. In your daily life, carry only what is necessary and let go of the rest. Let’s look at what these unnecessary burdens might be.
1. The Burden of “What Will People Think?”
This is a major reason why daily life feels exhausting. It is good to be considerate, but it becomes harmful when you care only about how others perceive you. You must understand the nature of people: they often see only what they want to see. Even if you live your best life, you will encounter people who won't see the good in you. By letting go of the burden of public opinion, your life will immediately feel simpler.
2. The Burden of Trying to Make Every Moment Meaningful
Today, most people strive to make every single second productive. In truth, this creates an unnecessary burden. Even machines cannot work every second. The definition of a "meaningful time" is subjective. Think back to the moments you spent just "wasting time" with friends when you were young. Those moments remain in everyone's memory as the times they most wish to return to because they were so simple and free, not because they were productive. To have a simple life, you need light, unstructured moments.

3. Burdens from Social Media
Modern life has added a new source of exhaustion: social media. People present only their “best selves” online, leading us to compare our lives to theirs. This creates burdens of inferiority and increased greed for things we don't need. On the other hand, consuming toxic content can leave you feeling burnt out. To build a simple daily life, you must remain mindful of these digital side effects.
These are common burdens that most people share. Take some quiet time to reflect on your own specific situation. You will likely find even more things you can let go of. Once you do, you will begin to feel your daily life gradually becoming simpler and more peaceful.
