Raindrops and a Cozy Daily Life

Posted in Lifestyle

Some people tend to view the rainy season as a damp, messy, and frustrating time of year. Wet clothes, laundry that takes forever to dry, muddy floors, and waterlogged streets are undeniable annoyances that come with the monsoon. However, the rainy season isn't just a damp and gloomy period; it also brings many wonderful opportunities.

In reality, the rainy season is a time filled with cozy and calming moments that you can appreciate if you just pay close attention. While the outside world transforms into a lush, vibrant green landscape, the inside of your home becomes a sanctuary for warm moments. The earthy scent of soil after it rains, known as petrichor, the rich aroma of a freshly brewed cup of coffee, and the comforting steam of hot noodles are unmistakably the signature scents of the rainy season.

Beyond these aromas, warm foods pair perfectly with the monsoon weather, providing comforting flavors that also benefit your health. Imagine a day when the rain falls gently outside, surrounded by the delicious aromas of warm comfort food, wrapped in cozy clothes and blankets, enjoying a great movie or a good book, all while looking out of a window at the overcast sky and falling raindrops. Combined, these elements create an incredibly delightful rainy day, a special experience unique to the monsoon season that cannot be replicated at any other time of year.

Another beautiful feature of this season is the sound of the rain. The rhythm of falling raindrops is one of the best forms of "White Noise," which helps calm and stabilize the mind. In fact, people often seek out and listen to recorded rain sounds during other seasons to soothe themselves, especially those who struggle with insomnia. During the monsoon, however, you don't need to look for this sound; nature gifts it to you almost constantly.

Thanks to the coolness of the weather and the emotions brought by the rain, this season is neither as scorching as summer nor as biting as winter. Instead, it offers a warm, transitional pocket of time that is perfect for establishing peace in both body and mind. It is almost as if nature is giving you a designated timeout to stay cozy indoors, rest, and reflect. So, instead of looking at it as a hassle, try viewing it as an excellent season to clear your mind and gather your strength.

Even if you don't want to stay indoors all the time, you can still find peaceful touches and warm feelings in the outside world. Step outside and feel the raindrops. Take in the freshness of the plants revitalized by the rain and watch the leaves dance in the breeze. Take a deep, refreshing breath of the crisp air moving through the rain. Pause to observe the birds and dogs taking shelter and dozing off. You will begin to feel the unique beauty and deeper meaning of the rainy season.

The rainy season is far more than just a damp and gloomy time of year; it can be an incredibly warm and delightful season. Instead of wishing for these days to pass by quickly, I encourage you to fully embrace these moments and create your own warm monsoon memories.
